This spring, New Challenge is delighted to be working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to deliver a series of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses for customers during March and April.

These courses are part of our continued commitment to improving wellbeing, employability, and confidence by equipping individuals with practical mental health knowledge that can be used both in the workplace and everyday life.

Our NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace provides a strong foundation in recognising mental health needs and offering appropriate support. It is particularly valuable for anyone working with people, supporting colleagues, or looking to build skills for roles in care, community work, or customer-facing environments.

Learners will:

  • Understand common signs and symptoms of mental ill health
  • Develop the confidence to support others sensitively and appropriately
  • Gain insight into promoting positive mental wellbeing at work
  • Build knowledge that supports progression into health, care, and support role

The qualification is coursework-based, with no exams. Each of the three units includes a small number of written questions (8–10 per unit), allowing learners to demonstrate their understanding in a supportive, stress-free way. The courses will be delivered face-to-face in Wembley, creating an engaging classroom environment where learners can share experiences and build confidence together.

Sessions will take place one day per week over three consecutive weeks, making it manageable to fit around existing commitments.
