Adult Education Budget

Understanding Adult Education Budget (AEB) Funding

What is AEB Funding?

The Adult Education Budget (AEB) is government funding for education and training to support adults aged 19 and over. It is aimed at helping adults gain essential skills, improve their employability, and foster personal growth.

Through the Greater London Authority (GLA), the Mayor is responsible for AEB funding in London.  For more information, please visit the London Mayor’s AEB site: Adult Education Budget | London City Hall

The funding is freely available to people who meet the eligibility criteria and allows them to do courses that they would normally have to pay for.  It allows us to offer our courses to eligible individuals entirely free of charge.

To ensure that AEB funding is allocated to the right candidates, we are required to verify eligibility.

Here are the eligibility requirements for receiving the funding:

  • British, Irish or EU Citizen, or have permission to live in the UK (tourist and study visas are not eligible)
  • Lived in the UK or EU for 3 years
  • Be aged 19 or over
  • Unemployed (claiming or not claiming benefits) or
  • Be employed and earning no more than £25,642.50 (London Living Wage)

What Information we need:

We request documents such as passports, proof of address, and benefit statements or payslips to verify and prove your eligibility for AEB funding. Here is why each document is necessary:

  1. Passport/birth certificate or residency visa: Your ID (e.g. passport or Settled Status document) helps us confirm your identity, age and nationality. It is an essential document to ensure you meet the necessary criteria for AEB funding.
  2. Proof of address: AEB funding is only available to eligible UK residents, and in our case, London residents and we require evidence of where you are currently living. This can be a recent (no more than 3 months old) bank statement or utility bill, for example.
  3. Benefit proof or payslips: These documents help us determine your employment status. For those working, AEB funding only supports individuals earning under the London Living Wage threshold, and these documents help us ensure you qualify.

Your Privacy Matters

We take your privacy seriously. Any information you provide is kept secure and confidential. Your data is used exclusively for the purpose of verifying your eligibility for AEB funding.

Understanding the necessity of these documents can help you feel more confident in your decision to enrol in our courses. We are here to support you throughout the registration process and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
